West Bengal Elections 2021: Mamata files nomination from Nandigram

Star Digital Report

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today filed her nomination from the high-profile Nandigram assembly constituency in East Midnapore district where she will be pitted against her former protege and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Accompanied by Trinamool Congress party's senior leader Subrata Bakshi, Mamata filed her papers at the Haldia sub-divisional office in West Bengal after taking part in a two-km roadshow, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

Adhikari, who recently switched over to the saffron camp, was also in Nandigram today and termed Mamata as an "outsider" there.

"She (Banerjee) is an outsider in Nandigram. She does not even cast her vote here. I am not only the 'bhoomiputra' (son of the soil of Nandigram), but also a regular voter in the area," Adhikari said.

"I have been with the people of this place for several years unlike Banerjee, who comes here only during polls," Adhikari said, while inaugurating his election office.

Yesterday, Mamata had wondered how some of her political rivals dare to call her an "outsider" in Nandigram.

Adhikari said people duped by chit fund companies in the state would get back their money if the BJP is voted to power in the coming assembly elections.

The chit fund scam happened because of the TMC government and its leaders "looted public money", he alleged.
