Hoarding edible oil, trader fined Tk 1 lakh in Manikganj

A trader was fined Tk 1 lakh for illegal stocking of soybean oil in his store at Manikganj today (May 13, 2022).

Asaduzzaman Rumel, assistant director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department (Manikganj district office) imposed the fine after conducting a two-hour raid in the Dudhbazar area.

The official said they conducted raids in different markets in the town against illegally stockpiled soybean oil and traders were selling this oil at higher prices.

Niranjan Banik, the owner of Kalipada and Sons, was fined Tk 100,000 for illegally storing the edible oil in his store.
