Record 442 Covid-19 cases reported in Sylhet division in 24 hours

At least 442 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sylhet division in 24 hours till this morning, breaking previous records.

The maximum infection in a single day was 389 till yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Sylhet Divisional Director of Health Dr Sultana Razea confirmed this information in the daily divisional statistical report of Covid-19.

In 24 hours till this morning, six persons died of Covid-19 while 551 patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the division.

Meanwhile, the infection rate in the division is also exceeding all previous records and the positivity rate is 43.12 percent.

The percentage-48.91- is highest in Moulviabazar where 67 persons tested positive out of 137 samples. In Sylhet, the infection rate is 48.23 percent as 273 people tested positive out of 566 tests.

In Sunamganj, 56 people tested positive out of 192 resulting in 29.17 percent positivity rate and in Habiganj, 46 tested positive out of 130 tested samples at 35.38 percent infection rate.

So far, 28,547 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the division since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Among them, 24,614 people recovered and 511 died till today.
