Omicron scare: India starts vaccinating foreign tourists at Taj Mahal
Amidst the Omicron variant scare, authorities in India have arranged for Covid-19 vaccination for foreigners at the Taj Mahal in Agra -- keeping in mind that the 17th-century monument is a hot favourite with international tourists.
Besides Taj Mahal, foreigners can also get vaccinated at Agra's urban and rural health centres of government hospitals, reports our New Delhi correspondent quoting Agra Chief Medical Officer Arun Kumar Srivastava.
The Agra district administration has asked all city hotels to keep it apprised of all their foreign guests.
Stepping up its anti-Covid-19 vigil amidst the Omicron scare, the city administration has also upgraded its anti-Covid-19 mechanism to subject travellers to RT-PCR tests at bus and railway stations and monuments, an Agra Health Department official said today.
"We have also arranged facilities for vaccination at the Taj Mahal and Agra Cantonment Railway Station, beside some other places," said Srivastava.
He said city hotels have been asked to provide details of travellers coming in from other countries and alert local intelligence units to check the travel history of foreigners staying in Agra.
