No empty beds in Khulna hospitals’ Covid units, 11 dead in 24 hours
Eleven people have died in three separate hospitals in Khulna in 24 hours, till 8 am today.
"In the last 24 hours, six people have died in Khulna Medical College Hospital," said the in-charge of the Covid unit of the hospital Dr Suhas Ranjan Haldar, reports our Khulna correspondent.
At the 130-bed KMCH, 213 patients are admitted at the moment. Of them, 113 are in the red zone, 60 in yellow, 20 in the HDU and 20 are in the ICU. Over 24 hours till this morning, 29 new patients were admitted while 26 were discharged after recovering.
Four died while undergoing treatment in the Covid unit of Gazi Medical College Hospital. At present, 120 patients are admitted to the 120-bed hospital. Of them, nine are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 10 in the high-dependency unit HDU, said Gazi Mizanur Rahman, owner of the hospital.
During this time, 27 new patients have been admitted to the hospital while 12 returned home, he added.
Khulna General Hospital's Covid unit spokesman Dr Kazi Abu Rashed said one person died of the virus while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
At present, all beds of this 70-bed hospital are occupied. In addition, 12 new patients got admitted in the last 24 hours and seven returned home, Rashed added.
