Deaths with Covid-like symptoms jumped three-fold in two weeks: CGS

Deaths with Covid-like symptoms have increased by more than three-fold in the past two weeks, till Tuesday, said the Center for Genocide Studies (CGS) at the University of Dhaka.

The highest number of deaths -- 270 -- with Covid-like symptoms were recorded in the Rajshahi district, followed by 251 in Cumilla.

In other districts, Satkhira recorded 245, Chandpur 161, Khulna 149, Chattogram 104, Barishal 98, Dhaka 92, and 71 deaths were recorded with Covid-like symptoms in Bogura and Faridpur.

A total of 2,939 people have died with Covid-19 symptoms so far, according to the CGS data.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), however, only provides statistics on daily confirmed Covid-19 deaths.

Including 185 deaths till 8am today, a total of 16,189 people died with Covid-19 so far in the country.
