Covid in Kushtia: 13 die in 24 hours, infection rate 29.21%

Thirteen Covid-19 deaths were recorded in Kushtia in 24 hours (till 8 am). In addition, six more deaths with Covid-like symptoms were recorded in the past 24 hours.

During the same period, 801 samples were tested and 234 were found positive, stacking a 29.21 percent positivity rate, our correspondent reports.

Resident Medical Officer of Covid-dedicated Kushtia General Hospital, Taposh Kumar Sarkar, told The Daily Star that 13 people who died of Covid-19 were being treated under Kushtia District Health Department. Six others who died with symptoms were admitted to the coronavirus unit of Kushtia General Hospital.

Till 8 am today, 252 people are undergoing treatment at the Kushtia General Hospital, said Taposh. He also added that 262 were undergoing treatment yesterday, and 259 the day before.

In the previous 24 hours (June 6), 432 people tested positive out of 1,221 samples. The detection rate was 35.38 percent.

In Kushtia, 9,432 people have been infected with the virus so far, and 275 of them have died.
