Covid-19 patient ‘left by husband’ at CMCH dies

A Covid-19 patient died in Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) early today after her husband left her there on Tuesday and didn't return.

Asma Akter (38) died around 1:30am at the Covid-19 ward of the hospital, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.

Asma's husband Mozammel could not be found at the time of filing this report, this evening.

According to sources at the CMCH, Mozammel admitted Asma on Tuesday morning and introduced himself as the patient's husband.

According to patient registration, Asma lived in Double Mooring area in the port city.

After admission, Mozammel left the hospital, said Jahirul Islam, in-charge of CMCH Police Outpost.

"We tried to find Mozammel after Asma's death but could not. The phone number mentioned in the registration was found switched off," he said.

The body was kept at CMCH morgue, said assistant sub-inspector Shilabrata Barua of CMCH police camp.

Double Mooring Police Station was informed about the matter and they were verifying the address, he added.
