212 Covid-19 deaths reported in 24 hours, highest since pandemic started

Two hundred and twelve people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 16,004 and the death rate stands at 1.6 percent. The number of deaths is the highest since Covid-19 pandemic hit in the country.

At least 11,324 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 10,00,543, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 30.95 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 14.49 percent.

A total of 36,586 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours. At least 6,038 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 8,62,384 and the recovery rate at 86.19 percent.

Among the 212 deceased, 119 were men and 93 were women.

Of them, two was between 11-20 years old, seven were within 21-30, 17 between 31-40, 40 between 41-50, 56 between 51-60 and 90 were above 60 years old, added the release.
