17 die in Covid units of 3 Khulna hospitals in 24 hours
Seventeen patients died while being treated at the Covid units of three Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.
The three hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital and Khulna General Hospital.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said that eight patients at the unit died in 24 hours till this morning. Among them, four were Covid-19 positive and the other four were suffering from symptoms.
Till 8am, 180 people were admitted to the unit, of them 109 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 31 in yellow zone, 20 are in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 20 are at intensive care unit (ICU).
Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, four patients died while undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8am. They were all Covid-19 positive.
Besides, 134 patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid unit. Of them, nine were in ICU and 11 in HDU, he added.
On the other hand, five Covid-19 patients died while being treated at the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Kazi Abu Rashed. Seventy were taking treatment at the unit till this morning, he added.
In the Covid unit of Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialised Hospital, no patients died in the 24 hours till morning, said Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath, spokesperson of the unit.
Forty-five patients were admitted at the coronavirus unit of the hospital till 8am. Of them, 10 were being treated at ICU, the doctor added.
