14 die in Covid units of 3 Khulna hospitals in 24 hours
Fourteen patients died while undergoing treatment at the Covid units of three Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.
The three hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital and Khulna General Hospital.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said that eight patients died at the unit in 24 hours till this morning. Of them, six were Covid-19 positive and the rest had symptoms.
A total of 193 people was undergoing treatment at the hospital's Covid unit till 8:00am today. Of them, 121 are undergoing treatment in red zone, 36 in yellow zone, 17 bare in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 19 at intensive care unit (ICU), reports our Khulna correspondent.
Thirty-seven patients were admitted at the unit in 24 hours till this morning and 32 were discharged from the hospital.
Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, two patients died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8am.
Besides, 134 patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid unit. Of them, eight were in ICU and 11 in HDU, he added.
On the other hand, four persons died while being treated at the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Kazi Abu Rashed; 71 were taking treatment at the unit till this morning.
No patient died at Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital's Covid unit in the 24 hours but 43 patients are receiving treatment there at present, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath.
