Nine die at Covid units of Khulna hospitals in 24 hours

Nine patients died while undergoing treatment at the Covid units of three Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8am today.

The hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Khulna City Medical College Hospital and Gazi Medical College Hospital.

Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the Covid unit at KMCH, said that six patients died at the unit in 24 hours till this morning. All of them were Covid-19 positive.

A total of 112 people was treated at the hospital's Covid unit till 8am today. Of them, 39 were undergoing treatment in red zone, 40 in yellow zone, 13 were in high-dependency unit (HDU) and 20 at intensive care unit (ICU), he said.

Two people died at the Covid-19 unit of Khulna City Medical College Hospital in 24 hours till 8am today. Sixty-five patients were receiving treatment at the unit.

Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said, one patient died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours, till 8am today. Fifty-seven patients were undergoing treatment at the Covid unit of the hospital during this time.

No patients died at the Covid units of Khulna General Hospital and Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital in 24 hours.

Dr Kazi Abu Rashed, spokesperson of the Covid unit in Khulna General Hospital, said 35 patients were taking treatment at the unit till this morning.

Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath, spokesperson of Covid-19 unit of Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital, said 38 patients were receiving treatment at the unit.
