Covid-19: 70 deaths recorded in a day, positivity rate now 10.76%

Seventy people died of Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,432 and the death rate stands at 1.75 percent.

A total of 29,438 samples were tested across the country and at least 3,167 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of people infected to 1,510,283, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 10.76 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 16.74 percent.

At least 4,697 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,442,582 and the recovery rate is 95.52 percent. 

Among the 70 deceased, 34 were men and 36 were women.

Of them, one was between 21-30, three between 31-40, 11 between 41-50, 16 between 51-60, 21 between 61-70, 14between 71-80 and four between 81-90 years old, added the release.
