Covid-19: 52 dead in 24 hours, positivity rate now 9.07%

Fifty-two people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,736, and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.

A total of 27,528 samples were tested across the country and at least 2,497 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of people infected to 1,522,302 added the release.

The current positivity rate is 9.07 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 16.64 percent.

At least 3,840 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,464,594 and the recovery rate is 96.21 percent. 

Among the 52 deceased, 20 were men and 32 were women.

Of them, three were between 21-30 years old, three between 31-40, eight between 41-50, 14 between 51-60, 16 between 61-70, six were between 71-80 and two between 81-90 years old, added the release.
