Covid-19: 117 deaths reported in a day, positivity rate now 15.54%

One hundred and seventeen people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours preceding 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 25,399 and the death rate stands at 1.73 percent.

At least 5,717 new infections were recorded during this period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,67,715, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 15.54 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.9 percent.

A total of 36,789 samples were tested across the country during this period.

At least 8,982 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the same time.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 86,86,306 and the recovery rate stands at 93.54 percent.  

Among the 117 deceased, 53 were men and 64 were women.

Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, one was within 21-30, nine between 31-40, six between 41-50, 26 between 51-60, 41 between 61-70, 21 between 71-80, nine between 81-90, and three between 91-100 years old, added the release.
