Covid-19: 114 deaths, 5,249 cases recorded in a single day

One hundred and fourteen people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 25, 513 and the death rate stands at 1.73 percent.

At least 5,249 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,72,964, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 15.12 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.89 percent.

A total of 34,708 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 8,907 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,81,763 and the recovery rate at 93.81 percent.

Among the 114 deceased, 56 were men and 58 were women. Of them, one was under 10, one was between 11-20, four between 21-30, four between 31-40, 11 between 41-50, 26 between 51-60 and 67 were above 60 years old, added the release.
