70 Covid-19 deaths recorded in a day, current positivity rate 9.66%

Seventy people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8 am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,563 and the death rate stands at 1.75 percent.

A total of 25,163 samples were tested across the country and at least 2,430 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,14,456 added the release.

The current positivity rate is 9.66 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 16.71 percent.

At least 5,060 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 14,51,063 and the recovery rate is 95.81 percent. 

Among the 70 deceased, 40 were men and 30 were women.

Of them, three were between  21-30, four between 31-40, seven between 41-50, 14 between 51-60, 28 between 61-70,  12 between 71-80 and two between 81-90 years old, added the release.
