21 patients die at RMCH’s Covid unit in 24 hours

Twenty-one people – 11 male and 10 female -- died at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of the deceased, 10 were Covid-19 positive and the rest died with symptoms, our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports quoting RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani.

Seven of deceased were from Rajshahi, five from Pabna, four from Naogaon, three from Natore    and one each from Chapainawabganj and Jhenaidah.

During 24 hours, 240 samples were tested at RMCH lab through RT-PCR testing and 68 of them came positive while 447 were tested at Rajshahi Medical College lab and 130 of them were Covid-19 positive, Brig Gen Yazdani said.

The current positivity rate in the district is 22.52 percent.

A total of 55 people was admitted to the coronavirus unit of RMCH in 24 hours till 8am today. Forty patients left the hospital after recovery during the period.
