18 die at RMCH Covid unit in 24 hours; positivity rate 32.71% in Rajshahi

Eighteen people died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of them, six were Covid-19 positive and the rest died with symptoms, said RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani.

Six of the deceased were from Rajshahi, four from Natore, three were from Naogaon, three from Pabna, one each from Chapainawabganj and Kushtia.

During the 24 hours, 188 samples were tested at the PCR lab of RMCH, and 64 of them came positive, Brig Gen Yazdani said.

Meanwhile, 335 samples were tested at the lab of Rajshahi Medical College, and 127 of the them came positive.

The current positivity rate in Rajshahi stands at 32.71 percent, the RMCH director said.

According to the hospital source, 53 patients were admitted at RMCH's Covid unit during the 24 hours. With them, 418 are now currently undergoing treatment there.
