18 die at RMCH Covid unit in 24 hours; positivity rate 30.21% in Rajshahi

Eighteen people – 10 male and eight female -- died at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of the deceased, six were Covid-19 positive and the rest died with symptoms, our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports quoting RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani.

Ten of them were from Rajshahi, three from Natore, two from Chapainawabganj and one each from Pabna, Naogaon and Kushtia.

During 24 hours, 188 samples were tested at RMCH lab through RT-PCR testing and 89 of them came positive while 279 were tested at Rajshahi Medical College lab and 62 of them were Covid-19 positive, Brig Gen Yazdani said.

The current positivity rate in the district is 30.21 percent.

A total of 52 people was admitted to the coronavirus unit of RMCH in 24 hours till 8am today. Forty-two patients left the hospital after recovery during the period. In total, 405 people are undergoing treatment at the unit at present.
