17 die in MMCH’s Covid unit in 24 hours

Seventeen people died while being treated at the Covid unit of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of them, nine were positive for coronavirus infection while the others had symptoms, reports our local correspondent quoting Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, focal person of the hospital's Covid unit.

Eleven of them were from Mymensingh, three from Netrakona and each from Sherpur, Gazipur and Sirajganj.  

Forty patients were admitted to the hospital during this time and 420 people were being treated at the unit till 8 this morning, of them 22 were in the Intensive Care Unit, the doctor said.

In the 24 hours till 8am, 305 samples were tested for Covid-19 in Mymensingh, said Civil Surgeon Dr Nazrul Islam. Among them, 208 tested positive for the virus.

Current positivity rate stands at 15.93 percent.
