145 Covid-19 deaths in a day, positivity rate drops to 17.18%
One hundred and forty-five people died from Covid-19 in the 24 hours preceding 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily positivity rate has dropped to 17.18 percent -- the lowest it has been in two months. It was 17.64 yesterday.
The daily death toll has also seen a drop from the previous day's 159.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 25,023 and the death rate stands at 1.72 percent.
At least 5,993 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,53,203, added the release.
The overall positivity rate stands at 16.91 percent.
A total of 34,892 samples were tested across the country during the period.
At least 10,574 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,47,755 and the recovery rate stands at 92.74 percent.
Among the 145 deceased, 77 were men and 68 were women.
Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, five were within 21-30, nine between 31-40, 14 between 41-50, 19 between 51-60, 52 between 61-70, 28 between 71-80, 11 between 81-90, and six between 91-100 years old, added the release.
