13 die at RMCH Covid unit in 24 hours; positivity rate 24.32% in Rajshahi

Thirteen people – seven male and six female -- died at the Covid unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in 24 hours till 8am today.

Of the deceased, five were Covid-19 positive and the rest died with symptoms, our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports quoting RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani.

Five of them were from Pabna, three each from Rajshahi and Naogaon and one each from Natore and Chapainawabganj.

During 24 hours, 188 samples were tested at RMCH lab through RT-PCR testing and 41 of them came positive while 281 were tested at Rajshahi Medical College lab and 59 of them were Covid-19 positive, Brig Gen Yazdani said.

The current positivity rate in the district is 24.32 percent.

A total of 48 people was admitted to the coronavirus unit of RMCH in 24 hours till 8am today. Thirty-two patients left the hospital after recovery during the period. In total, 433 people are undergoing treatment at the unit at present.
