13 die at 4 Khulna Hospital Covid units in 24 hours
Thirteen patients died while undergoing treatment at Covid units of four Khulna hospitals in 24 hours till 8 am today.
The four hospitals are Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), Gazi Medical College Hospital, Khulna General Hospital, and Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer and spokesperson of the KMCH Covid unit, said that seven patients died in 24 hours till this morning. Of them, six were Covid-19 positive, and the other had symptoms.
A total of 163 people were undergoing treatment at KMCH's Covid unit till 8:00 am today. 87 of them were undergoing treatment in the red zone, 37 in the yellow zone, 19 in the high-dependency unit (HDU), and 20 in the intensive care unit (ICU), report our Khulna correspondent.
Twenty-three new patients were admitted to the unit in 24 hours till this morning, and 31 were discharged from the hospital.
Gazi Medical College Hospital owner Gazi Mizanur Rahman said three patients died at the hospital's Covid unit during 24 hours till 8 am.
Besides, 89 patients were receiving treatment during this time at the hospital's Covid unit. Among them, seven were in the ICU and eight in the HDU, he added.
On the other hand, two patients died at Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital's Covid unit in the 24 hours, said the unit's spokesperson Dr Prakash Chandra Debnath, adding that 45 patients are receiving treatment there at present.
Dr Kazi Abu Rashed, the spokesperson of Khulna General Hospital's Covid unit, said one patient died at the unit in 24 hours while 62 were receiving treatment at the unit till this morning.
