Local administration today locked down five villages and two bazaar areas in Lalmonirhat after a person tested positive for coronavirus.

The infected person, a wood cutter by profession, returned home in Guriadaha village in Lalmonirhat from Narayanganj on Wednesday with coronavirus-like symptoms.

On Thursday, his sample was sent to the Rangpur Medical College for Covid-19 test and the result came positive, said the district's Civil Surgeon Dr Nirmalendu Roy.

Samples of his family members and neighbours have also been sent for test, he informed.
