www.ourdhakacity.com is a snazzy site that will help you discover Dhaka in a new way. Being a resident of this city since birth and possessing the spirit of a wanderer (Yes I do!), I found about many locations from this website that was totally unheard to me. The site has 4 clearly defined tabs to choose: where to go, where to eat, where to pray and where to eat. Each of the tabs has several posts on places that are famous in their own category. If you are a foodie like me, then I assume 'Where to eat' is getting the first click. And if you are a shopaholic then 'Where to shop' is the first place where you should go first.
'Where to pray' section is another interesting section. You could find many churches, mosques, temples and other religious edifices that are simply beautiful. This section is certainly an epitome of religious harmony that this city bolstered for centuries.
Generally, all the posts come with several high resolution snapshots that are eye-soothing. In fact, it created a small crowd in front of my monitor when I was browsing through the 'Where to eat' section. Moreover there is also a small intro about the topic in every post. The location, close days and visiting hours are mentioned in the posts for your convenience. Google maps are integrated in the posts too. You could simply enter your name and email to leave a comment.
On great thing we liked about this site is that you could publish your own work too (provided it falls within the scope of this site and your write up passes the moderation)
We liked the concept of the site. We found the site technically quite good too. It loaded smoothly through the low net speed connection that I was using. Some glitches are there but not visible in first sight. The site was ads free, a thing we particularly liked. We consider this site as a spectacular way to promote tourism of our capital that once homed numerous emperors, nawabs, firangi sahebs, and commoners.
