Issuing fake Covid-19 reports: JKG chief Ariful, his associate Sayeed sent to jail
A Dhaka court today sent JKG Health Care Chief Executive Officer Ariful Chowdhury and one of his associates Sayeed Chowdhury to jail in a case filed for issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter passed the order after Md Liakot Ali, an inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court on expiry of their four-day remand.
In the forwarding report, the IO said they gave important information about issuing fake Covid-19 certificates which was being verified. He appealed to the court to confine them in jail until the investigation is completed.
On the other hand, defence submitted a petition to provide them treatment in jail custody as they are supposedly unwell.
Earlier on June 24, police arrested Ariful Chowdhury and four others for their alleged involvement in issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.
The four are: Humayun Kabir and his wife Tanzina Patwary, Sayeed Chowdhury and Al Mamun.
Police have so far arrested nine people in connection with the incident.
