River ports asked to hoist warning signal 2
River ports in some regions have been asked to hoist warning signal 2 as temporary west or northwesterly squally wind is likely to occur in many parts of the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The warning for inland river ports will remain valid till 6:00pm today, according to a bulletin issued 10:00am.
"In association with rain/thunder showers, temporary west/north-westerly squalls [of] speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar wherein river ports shall hoist riverine warning signal no Two (r) two."
Rain or thundershower with temporary west/north westerly gusty or squally winds at the speed of 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports should hoist cautionary signal 1, it said.
