Rain likely in Dhaka, other divisions

Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicted rain or thundershowers in all divisions, including Dhaka, in the 24 hours starting from 9:00am today.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country," said a morning bulletin of the Met office.

The weather office recorded the highest 48mm rainfall in Patuakhali.

Meanwhile, a mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and Rajshahi district, and it may continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country, as per the bulletin.

The country's highest temperature was recorded at 37.6 degrees Celsius in Jashore while the lowest temperature was recorded at 23.5 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur and Chattogram's Kutubdia.

Besides, a trough of low lies over India's West Bengal to north Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh. The monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over north Bay.
