Rain likely in country as low intensifies into depression over Bay

Rain or thunder showers is likely in Dhaka and other seven divisions as a well-marked low over central part of the north Bay and adjoining area concentrated into a monsoon depression over northeast Bay and adjoining areas today.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," the Met office said in a bulletin.

Besides, a mild heatwave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Chattogram, Chandpur, Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni and Bhola, and it may abate.

The well-marked low over the central part of north Bay and adjoining area concentrated into a monsoon depression over northeast Bay and adjoining areas at 6:00am today.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay.
