Annual conference on energy, climate change on Feb 11-12
With the theme "Energy, Climate Change and Sustainable Development", Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) and Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) will hold a two-day annual conference from February 11.
The conference will be held both online and offline maintaining health guideline on Stamford University's Siddheswari Campus, BAPA-BEN organisers disclosed it at a press conference today at the Press Club.
Nazrul Islam, founder of BEN and vice-president of BAPA, read out the motto of the upcoming conference.
He said energy policy of a nation will surely determine how environment will be of the country. In last two decades, Bangladesh has seen tremendous progress in the energy sector.
"There was a time when load-shedding was a regular phenomenon. We have been able to overcome this crisis. Now, the energy sector comes with fresh set of crises," he said, adding this conference will place recommendations in deciding energy policy and help policymakers to go nature-friendly.
The two-day conference will focus on eleven important topics over the issue.
Sharif Jamil, general secretary of BAPA; Kamrul Ahsan Khan, coordinator BEN, Australia Chapter; Ruhin Hossain Prince, member of central committee, BAPA were also spoke in the press conference.
