Jyotirmoyee Kundu opens up about working with Shakib Khan in upcoming film
Indian actress Jyotirmoyee Kundu has shared her experience of acting opposite Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan in the upcoming film “Prince: One Upon a Time in Dhaka”, marking her debut in Bangladeshi cinema.
Speculation first emerged last November that Jyotirmoyee would star alongside Shakib Khan in director Abu Hayat Mahmud’s new project. While the production team initially stopped short of confirming her casting, stating only that an Indian actress would be part of the film, Jyotirmoyee has now confirmed her involvement in an interview with Indian daily Anandabazar. She revealed that she has already completed five days of shooting for the film in Sri Lanka.
The production was originally scheduled to begin filming in India in December, but the shoot was delayed after visas for cast and crew could not be secured on time. This created uncertainty over the film’s planned Eid release. In response, production house Creative Land Films decided to move the shoot to Sri Lanka, where Jyotirmoyee participated in an intensive five-day schedule.
Speaking about the experience, the actress said she received immense support from the entire team despite the tight timeline. “With Eid approaching, there’s a lot of pressure to finish quickly. We’re shooting late into the night when needed. Everyone is incredibly helpful, especially with my pronunciation. They never make me feel like I’m new here,” she said.
Jyotirmoyee began her acting career in television and made her big-screen debut in Tollywood with “Projapoti 2”, opposite Dev. Her second film pairs her with Shakib Khan, a progression she describes as fortunate.
Comparing her two leading men, she noted similarities in their professionalism. “Dev and Shakib Khan are very different people, but as co-actors, they’re remarkably alike. Both are extremely supportive and never let their stardom affect the working environment on set,” she said.
Set in the 1990s, “Prince: One Upon a Time in Dhaka” will see Shakib Khan in a gangster role. Alongside Jyotirmoyee, the film also stars Tasnia Farin as another female lead, with supporting performances by Nasir Uddin Khan, Ejajul Islam, and Intekhab Dinar, among others.
