‘Delupi’ set for nationwide release

After creating a strong buzz in Khulna, "Delupi" is now gearing up for a nationwide release. The film will open across six multiplexes and cinema halls on November 14.

In its first week, "Delupi" will be screened at Star Cineplex (Bashundhara City Mall) and Lion Cinemas (Keraniganj) in Dhaka; Cinescope (Narayanganj); Raj Tilak Cinema Hall and Grand Riverview Cineplex in Rajshahi; and MOMOIN Movie Theatre in Bogura.

The film was first released in Khulna on November 7, marking the big-screen debut of director Mohammad Touqir Islam. Known for infusing a strong sense of place into his work, Touqir previously directed the Rajshahi-set "Shaaticap" in 2022 for an OTT platform, which drew notable critical and audience attention. His 2024 film "Sinpaat" further cemented his reputation as a promising young filmmaker.

All cast members of "Delupi" hail from various unions in Khulna, with the ensemble featuring Chironjit Biswas, Aditi Roy, Rudra Roy, and Md Zakir Hossain, among others.

The film has already received an enthusiastic response in Khulna, where it screened at Liberty Cinema Hall and the District Shilpakala Academy. Theatre authorities noted that "Delupi" has drawn an unusually strong turnout for a local film outside the Eid season.

Its promotional campaign has also drawn attention for its inventive approach—from the title reveal and release date announcement to premiere events and promotional activities across Dhaka and Khulna.
