Three day pop-up marketplace ‘Locally Sourced Nonsense’ ends today at Dwip Gallery
A winter evening at Dwip Gallery turned into a warm, bustling gathering as "Locally Sourced Nonsense", a three-day pop-up marketplace, opened its doors on December 26 to art lovers, curious visitors and supporters of independent creative practices.
The doors are closing today at 9 pm. The event had audiences slow down, engage in conversations and explore works that celebrate local contexts, everyday absurdities and playful experimentation.
Described as a "Jogakhichuri" (a playful hotchpotch) of ideas and expressions, "Locally Sourced Nonsense" showcases unique usables and wearables that blur the line between art, craft and humour.
The pop-up features creations by a diverse group of artists and collectives, including Janky (Project Janky), Urukku, Bijoy and Skech, Dhong, Samajik Kaj, Fungal by Snighdha, and Moon by Farah Naz Moon. Each participant brings a distinct voice, rooted in lived experiences and local narratives, making the marketplace both eclectic and intimate.
Beyond shopping, the event emphasises community and connection. Visitors are encouraged to browse at ease, interact with the makers, buy something unexpected or simply hang out over a warm cup of tea.
With its relaxed atmosphere and emphasis on locally driven creativity, "Locally Sourced Nonsense" offers a refreshing alternative to conventional marketplaces, turning Dwip Gallery into a space of warmth, conversation and shared curiosity during the winter evenings.
