Cox’s Bazar Film Club to host first-ever film festival

Marking the occasion of Independence Day, the Cox’s Bazar Film Club has organised the first-ever two-day Cox’s Bazar Film Festival. A total of six feature-length films and one documentary will be screened at the festival.

The festival will open on March 27 at 5:00pm with the screening of a documentary. This will be followed by the feature films “Chhayabrikkho”, directed by Bandhan Biswas; “Jolorong”, directed by Apurba Rana; and “Dot”, directed by Barua Sunanda Kakon.

On March 28, the closing day of the festival, audiences will watch the feature films “Behula Dorodi”, directed by Sabuj Khan; “Moynar Char”, directed by Mostafizur Rahman Babu; and “Madhyobitto”, directed by Tanvir Hasan, bringing the curtain down on the inaugural Cox’s Bazar Film Festival.

Mohammad Selim, President of the Cox’s Bazar Film Club said, “In this era of watching films on the small screens of mobile phones, the main aim of this initiative is to bring the contemporary stories of Bangla cinema back to the big screen.”

The organisers said that three films will be screened every evening at Laboni Beach Point in Cox’s Bazar, and the screenings will be open to all.

Channel S is the media partner of the festival, with support from the Cox’s Bazar District Administration, Bangladesh Film Archive, Department of Mass Communication, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
