J-Hope of global K-pop group BTS marked his birthday ( February 18) by donating a total of 300 million won ($207,000) to support underprivileged children, Asan Medical Center and ChildFund Korea announced on Wednesday.

According to Asan Medical Center, the artist contributed 200 million won ($138,000) to support the development of its children’s hospital. On the same day, ChildFund Korea, a nonprofit dedicated to child welfare, confirmed that he donated an additional 100 million won ($69,000) to support its programmes.

The hospital said the funds will be used to improve medical facilities for pediatric patients, as well as to expand home-based care and psychological counselling services for children with serious illnesses.

In a message shared through the hospital, J-Hope expressed hope for the young patients’ future, saying he believes they will grow into a brighter tomorrow and that he wishes for them to overcome their pain and pursue their dreams freely.

J-Hope has been a consistent supporter of Asan Medical Center since 2022, when he first donated 100 million won. With his latest contribution, his total donations to the hospital have reached 500 million won.

His donation to ChildFund Korea will be used to provide scholarships for students in his hometown of Gwangju, about 260 kilometers south of Seoul. The organisation will select recipients from Kukje High School and Jeonnam Girls’ Commercial High School who are in need of financial assistance. The singer has been supporting economically disadvantaged students at the two schools since 2019.

With this latest contribution, J-Hope has also become the 14th member of ChildFund Korea’s Green Noble Trinity Club, an honorary group for donors who have contributed at least 1 billion won to the organisation.
