Dinajpur double murder: HC rejects accused Nur Mostafa’s bail plea

The High Court today rejected a petition filed by Nur Mostafa Suman Labu seeking bail in the sensational case over the killing of Dinajpur BNP leader Mamunur Rashid Mamun and his wife Mim Tarin Sathi in 2017.

The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the rejection order after virtually holding hearing on the bail petition.

Nur Mostafa Suman Labu, one of the accused in the case, cannot get released from jail following the HC order, Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah told The Daily Star.

He said the HC rejected the bail petition as he confessed to his involvement in the killings to the magistrate concerned.

Advocate Akhter Rasul appeared for the accused petitioner.

Mamunur Rashid Mamun (50), a petroleum trader and also joint secretary of Dinajpur's Parbatipur upazila unit of BNP, and his wife Mim Tarin Sathi (20) were killed in a rented house at Jasim Bazar of Saidpur on November 29, 2017.

Some accused of the case including Nur Mostafa Suman Labu have given confessional statements to the magistrate, DAG Bashir Ullah added.
