Day one of Dhaka Art Summit (DAS) 2023 kicked-off at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on February 3, 2023. 

Dhaka Art Summit (DAS), Bangladesh's largest exhibition platform for art and architecture, will begin this Friday (February 3). The sixth edition of DAS will be based around the Bengali theme of 'Bonna’ (flood).

The opening ceremony for Hasura Akther Rumky’s first solo exhibition, ‘Self and Others’, took place at Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) on Friday, January 27.

The female physique has always been an object of love, passion, desire, and lust regardless of race, caste, place, and time. Human world and its growth revolves around the womb. However, the body of a woman is also a reflection of male domination and violence. And the wounds it receives, visible or not, can tell horrifying stories. Dilara Begum Jolly’s solo exhibition ‘In/visible’ is a depiction of female bodies and the injuries inflicted upon them.

National Award-winning actress Tamalika Karmaker has been a part of theatre for almost 30 years. She began her journey with “Pathor”, directed by Azizul Hakim and produced by Aranyak Natyadal. For the theatre troupe’s 50th anniversary, Tamalika is all set to return to the stage and is already taking part in rehearsals.

Ekushey Padak-winning actor, Mamunur Rashid founded the Aranyak Natyadal in 1972, along with a group of young people who had returned from the war. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the group. To celebrate the occasion, an eight-day festival has been organised, which will end on February 3.

Famed theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal is gearing up to celebrate its 50th founding anniversary with a plethora of cultural programmes and theatre plays.  Noted actor Mamunur Rashid, a member of the event organising committee, confirmed the news at the press conference for the event, held yesterday at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s Seminar Hall.

For many years now, BotTala has been a popular performance space. They will soon be staging a new show, after six years, titled “Shokhi Rongomala”, which will be directed by Mohammad Ali Haider.

Theatre festival “Aly Zaker Notuner Utshob” has kicked off in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy today, at 6:30 pm To celebrate the essence theatre itself and pay respect to one of the greatest Bangladeshi thespians, Aly Zaker, Nagorik Natya Sampradaya organised the first "Notuner Utshob" with seven plays in 2019. This year, it had been renamed after Aly Zaker.

Celebrating the life and memory of the noted thespian Ishrat Nishat, the “Ishrat Nishat Natya Puraskar'' ceremony came to an end yesterday, at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The jury board for the award reviewed 17 plays, staged by theatre troupes who were active in the last two years, presenting awards in a total of eight categories.

An illustrious figure in the world of acting, Sara Zaker has been a trailblazer in both the theatre stage and on television. One of the prominent figures of the ‘Nagorik Natya Sampradaya’, Sara Zaker received the Ekushey Padak for her contributions to the field of acting.

The opening ceremony of ‘Bengal Stream: The Vibrant Architecture Scene of Bangladesh’ was held at Bengal Shilpalay December 10, 2022. M.A Mannan, Honorable Minister of Planning, Government of Bangladesh inaugurated the exhibition as the Chief Guest. Nathalie Chuard, Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh, and Honorable Member of Parliament, Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor, were also present as Special Guests at the event.

Celebrating the essence of Bangladeshi theatre itself, eminent thespian and television persona Aly Zaker and his theatre troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya organised the first “Notuner Utshob”, with seven theatre plays back in 2019. Now, paying respect to the late artiste, this year’s festival has been titled “Aly Zaker Notuner Utshob 2023”.

Eminent actor and Member of Parliament, Asaduzzaman Noor will soon be seen in the play “Remand”, performed by theatre troupe Hridmoncho. The play will be a part of the theatre festival ‘Notuner Utshob’.  The festival will kick-off on January 22 and will be staged at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

To deepen the bond between Bangladesh and India, the Global Friendship Art Festival India 2023 has started at Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan, West Bengal. 

Dhaka Lit Fest just completed its 10th anniversary and, like always, took place at Bangla Academy.

Amidst the shivering cold in the capital, there was a long line of young, cheerful girls and boys on the premises of the Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy, to attend the last day of the month-long 19th Asian Art Biennale today. The closing ceremony of the exhibition was held at the National Theater Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).

"Morph(in)", a visual art exhibition by Reesham Shahab Tirtho, Ata Mojlish, Abir Shome, and Kazi Tahsin Agaz Apurbo was inaugurated at Dwip Gallery, Lalmatia on December 02, 2022. The four artists took the initiative to showcase their artworks following a certain concept and "Morph(in)" is the result of their artistry.
