Sarwar Ali, Laisa Ahmed Lisa re-elected to lead Chhayanaut
Chhayanaut has announced its new executive committee, reaffirming its commitment to expanding its activities across Bangladesh to further promote and strengthen Bengali culture and cultural consciousness.
Sarwar Ali has been re-elected as president, while Laisa Ahmed Lisa will continue as general secretary for another three-year term.
The new leadership was elected during the organisation's annual general meeting, held on Friday morning at the Ramesh Chandra Dutt Memorial Hall of Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban in Dhanmondi.
During the meeting, members voted to elect a 15-member executive committee, including the president and general secretary, for a three-year term. A six-member advisory council was also elected for the same period.
Khairul Anam Shakil and Partha Tanveer Naved have been elected as vice-presidents. Jayanta Roy and Tania Mannan will serve as joint general secretaries, while Nasihun Amin has been elected treasurer.
The executive committee also includes Mofidul Hoque, Sahana Akhter Rahman Papri, Nahas Khalil, Zubair Yusuf, Jesmin Buli, Shashanka Sadi, Sharmin Sathi Islam and Mahua Manjari Sunanda as members.
The newly elected advisory council comprises Selina Malek Chowdhury, Iffat Ara Dewan, Shaheen Samad, Sultana Kamal, Ramendu Majumder and Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury.
The newly formed committee has pledged to broaden Chhayanaut's cultural initiatives across the country, with a focus on preserving, promoting and nurturing the spirit of Bengali culture and heritage.
