American actor Giancarlo Esposito, best known for playing Gus Fring in the acclaimed TV series “Breaking Bad”, has reportedly embraced Islam during a recent stay in Saudi Arabia.

According to reports citing Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Al-Sheikh, Esposito recited the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, and later joined members of a film crew in prayer at a local mosque. Al-Sheikh said the actor's decision was influenced by his positive experiences in the Kingdom and his interactions with Muslim colleagues during filming.

A video shared on social media showed Esposito praying alongside members of the production team, drawing widespread attention online.

Born in Copenhagen to an Italian father and an African-American mother, Esposito moved to New York City as a child and began his acting career on Broadway at a young age. Over the decades, he has built an impressive resume, appearing in films by Spike Lee as well as acclaimed productions such as “The Usual Suspects”, “Homicide: Life on the Street”, “Breaking Bad”, “Better Call Saul”, “The Mandalorian” and “The Boys”.

Esposito is currently part of “7 Dogs”, a major Saudi-backed action film directed by Adil El-Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The production, featuring an international cast that includes Monica Bellucci, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Max Huang, is considered one of the most ambitious Arabic-language film projects to date.

The film reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in entertainment and cinema under its Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to position the Kingdom as a leading destination for international film production.
