‘Barsha Biplober Gaan’ concert to mark July Uprising Day on Aug 5

An open-air concert titled “Barsha Biplober Gaan” will be held on August 5 at the South Plaza of the National Parliament complex on Manik Mia Avenue to commemorate July Uprising Day and the observance of “36 July”.

Organised by the Monsoon Cultural Alliance with support from the July Jagaran Platform, the concert will be open to the public and is scheduled to begin at 4pm.

The line-up includes singer Asif Akbar and bands Ark, Shironamhin, Artcell, AvoidRafa, and Kureghor. Singer Sezan, whose song “Kotha Ko” became closely associated with the July 2024 mass uprising, will also perform. Other artistes on the bill include Nahid and Musicians, Kazi Ahnaf Tahmid, and several others.

According to the organisers, the concert aims to commemorate the July uprising through music while bringing audiences together in an open public celebration.

In a Facebook post inviting audiences to the event, Asif Akbar wrote, “Let’s move forward together. Join us on August 5 at the South Plaza of the National Parliament on Manik Mia Avenue. This ‘36 July’, we’ll celebrate together through the songs of the monsoon revolution.”

In a video message, members of Shironamhin said, “The concert, titled ‘Barsha Biplober Gaan’, is being organised to commemorate the July 2024 mass uprising. We’ll be there, and we invite everyone to join us as we sing songs of our shared courage and hope.”

Kureghor frontman Tashrif Khan also invited audiences to attend, saying the band looked forward to performing before the public on August 5.

A similar programme marking “36 July” was held at the same venue last year, featuring performances by Saimum Shilpigosthi, Kolorob Shilpigosthi, Nahid, Sezan, Shunno, Sayan, Ethun Babu, Mousumi, Souls, Warfaze, and others.
