Bangladesh Betar enlists 92 composers and music directors
Bangladesh Betar has published a list recommending the enlistment of 92 composers and music directors, formally recognising a new group of musicians eligible to work with the state-owned broadcaster in those capacities.
The list, published on July 27, includes singers and musicians such as Alam Ara Minu, Mehreen Mahmud, Sania Sultana Liza, Sukanya Majumder, Suman Kalyan, and Rajesh Ghosh, among others.
Veteran singer Alam Ara Minu, who has long worked as both a composer and music director alongside her singing career, welcomed the recognition in a social media post. She also congratulated the other musicians included on the list.
Singer-songwriter and composer Putul Sajia Sultana, who has been writing songs and composing music for nearly 15 years of her two-decade music career, said the enlistment would allow her to collaborate more widely with other artistes through Bangladesh Betar.
"This recognition is very valuable to me," Putul told Ajker Patrika. "I have been working as a composer and music director for almost 15 years. Except for my debut album, I wrote, composed and directed the music for all my albums and the singles I released afterwards."
She said many artistes had previously expressed interest in working with her, but those collaborations had not materialised.
"Now I can officially begin working as a composer and music director with other artistes through Bangladesh Betar. Altogether, I am excited about this new chapter in my musical journey," she said.
