Youth tortured in Barishal narcotics office: Inspector closed
Inspector Abdul Malek Talukder has been closed after a probe committee found that a young man was tortured at Barishal Divisional Narcotics Control Office five months ago.
He was closed and attached to Dhaka head office yesterday, according to an office order published on the website of the Department of Narcotics Control.
The development came as the investigation committee primarily found evidence of torturing Maruf Sikder in Malek's office room, sources at the divisional narcotics control office confirmed.
Paritosh Kumar Kundu, additional director of Barishal Divisional Narcotics Control Office and head of the investigation team, also told our Barishal correspondent that Inspector Malek was closed and attached to Dhaka head office.
Abdul Malek tortured Maruf (20) in his office room, on the ground floor of the Barishal divisional office of narcotics control on September 22 last year.
A video of the incident was leaked to a private media channel last Tuesday.
