Woman killed over property dispute with neighbour in Gazipur
A woman was killed over a land dispute today with her neighbour at the Kirtaniya village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur.
The victim, Julekha Begum (55), was seriously injured when attackers hit her with a stick. She later died on the way to the hospital, reports our Gazipur correspondent quoting her brother Tota Miah.
"Neighbours Lal Mia and Dulal Mia, along with some hired help, came to occupy their land. At that time, Zulekha and her husband tried to stop them, which led to arguments and clashes that resulted in the killing," said Tota.
Lal, Dulal, and Tota were also injured in the clash, according to local UP member Sultan Uddin.
The accused had filed a case in court 15 years ago to amend the record of their occupied land. The case is still ongoing. They came to grab the land, added the victim's brother.
The deceased's body has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. The arrest of the accused and filing of a case is underway, said Kapasia Police Station's officer in charge (OC) Alam Chand.
