Star Digital Report

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested three councillors -- former and incumbent -- along with a Cox's Bazar municipality office assistant, today for helping some Rohingyas get enrolled in the voter list through forgery.

Mahbub Alam and Sharif Uddin, deputy director and deputy assistant director from the ACC Chattogram integrated office-2, led the drive and arrested the four, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

Incumbent councilor of ward 2 of Cox's Bazar municipality Mizanur Rahman, former councilors -- Javed Kaisar Novel and Rafikul Islam -- and office assistant Md Didar were arrested from their respective homes.

Sharif Uddin, deputy assistant director of the ACC, told The Daily Star that they were arrested for helping Rohingyas get enrolled in the voter lists through forgery.

They were shown arrested in the case filed in this connection, the ACC official said.

The four were produced before a Cox's Bazar court, which sent them to jail after rejecting their bail prayers.
