One held with gold worth Tk 5cr at Dhaka airport

Customs intelligence officials have arrested one person with 62 gold bars weighing 7.29 kilogrammes worth Tk 5 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The arrestee Sarwar Uddin, hailed from Chattogram, according to a press release.

He landed at the airport by a flight from Muscat at 11:00am this morning, the release said.

Tipped off, a team of customs intelligence recovered the gold after searching his bag and made the arrest, it stated.

The arrestee will be handed over to police and a case is underway in this connection, the release added.
