Mother, daughter killed allegedly by son-in-law in Cumilla
An elderly woman and her daughter were killed allegedly by her son-in-law in Cumilla's Burichang upazila today.
Police arrested the accused Lokman Ali (30) of Halgao village, hours after the killings.
Citing locals and neighbours, police said Lokman was married to Farzana (25) daughter of Shah Alam of Ballabpur village, about eight or nine years ago and the couple have a daughter and a son.
Lokman brought his mother-in-law Banu Bibi (55) to his house and he got into an argument with his wife and mother-in-law alleging extramarital affairs against Farzana.
At one stage of the argument, he reportedly slaughtered his mother-in-law and wife in his house.
Neighbours said Lokman went out of his house with a knife in his hand after killing the two. Later, Lokman was sitting at the door of the house with the knife.
Neigbours informed the Burichang police after coming to know the matter.
Police came to the spot and arrested the accused, said Mozammel Haque, officer-in-charge of Burichang Police Station.
The bodies were sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he said adding that a knife was also seized from the spot.
