Man throws acid at wife, mother-in-law in Brahmanbaria

Police are looking for a man who they believe threw acid on his wife and mother-in-law in Brahmanbaria's Akhaura upazila today.

Ananda Paul went into hiding after he threw acid on his wife Chandana Paul and mother-in-law Putul Rani Paul at Bhatamatha village in the upazila, our local correspondent reports.

Confirming the incident, Nahid Hasan, additional superintendent of police (Kasba-Akhaura circle), said they are trying to find Ananda.

Both injured persons are now undergoing treatment at Brahmanbaria General Hospital, Chandana's father Kalipada Paul said.

Ananda, a gambler, carried out the attack following a family dispute, Kalipada added.

No case in this regard was filed till around 7:30pm.
