Man shot dead in Dhaka's Dakshinkhan area
A man was shot dead in broad daylight in Dhaka's Dakshinkhan area this morning.
The deceased was primarily identified as Abdur Rashid. The incident happened around 11:30am at Ainushbagh area, said Azizul Haque, inspector (investigation) of Dakshinkhan Police Station.
Police so far arrested six persons including Hannan and recovered two firearms after searching his Dakshinkhan residence in this connection, said Md Shahidullah, Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Division Police.
"We are suspecting the killing took place over previous enmity. We are investigating the incident," the DC told The Daily Star.
"Hannan, known as 'Japani Hannan' in the locality, shot two rounds of bullets at the victim. The first bullet missed the target while another hit the victim in the head," said Azizul Haque, inspector (investigation) of Dakshinkhan Police Station.
He was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead. On information police rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, angered by the incident, locals torched a car near the spot of the incident.
Two firefighting units from Uttara rushed there and doused the blaze, said Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
