Madrasa teacher stabbed dead, 3 injured in attack over land dispute in Patuakhali
A madrasa teacher was stabbed to death and three were injured in an attack following a land dispute in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali this morning.
The deceased was identified as Mannan Mujahidi (57), reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
The injured -- Shakil (37), Shahidul (27) and Azhar (70) -- were admitted to Mirzaganj Upazila Health Complex from where Azhar was sent to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirzaganj Police Station Shawkat Anwar Islam said Mannan had been working as an assistant teacher at Salehiya Alim Madrasa in West Subidkhali of the upazila.
Police and locals said Mannan came under attack carried out by a gang led by Kitab Ali, Liton and Shipon as the former was constructing a house on a dispute land adjacent to his house.
The attackers stabbed Mannan and swooped on his people.
Mannan and three other injured were taken to the local upazila health complex where Mannan was declared dead, police said.
OC Shawkat Anwar said police recovered the body and sent it to Patuakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. So far, no cases were filed in this regard, the OC said, adding that police were trying to arrest the attackers.
Legal action will be taken through proper investigation into the incident, the OC added.
